MAC & Nicki Minaj Pink Friday

I don't know if you've heard about this yet, but I wanted to put my 10 cents in, as usual.

"It’s a monster collaboration: Pink 4 Friday by MAC Cosmetics and Nicki Minaj. The Trinidadian hip-hop diva has personally designed a limited edition MAC Lipstick, Pink Friday, to celebrate the release of her highly anticipated debut album of the same name. Putting her trademark Barbz glamour twist on a bright, creamy pink satin formula, Nicki Says, “MAC’s Pink Nouveau was my favorite lipstick for years, but now it’s all about Pink Friday!” Check it out: Nicki’s exclusive shade will only be available for purchase for four Fridays beginning Friday, November 26th, 2010, while supplies last, on maccosmetics.com"

Alright, seriously MAC? How gimmicky can you get? I know that releasing this on only Friday is an obvious ploy to make it more desirable and collectible. Am I the only one that finds this gimmicky and obnoxious? I don't get the Nicki Minaj appeal, and don't even get me started on that photo. I just find her voice to be like hot pokers in my ears and her Barbie wanna be persona can GTFO. No offense if you like her but everyone else seems to be head over heels for her. I feel so alone!

While I'm a *huge* pink lipstick fan this color looks very similar to several shades and I've yet to see swatches for something going on sale this Friday. While I'm not saying I totally *won't* be purchasing this, as it stands now I don't see a need for it. I'm truthfully too lazy to deal with waiting around on Friday for this to release (we all know how on schedule MAC is...).

So how do you feel about this? The color? Nicki herself? The strange release days?
How do you think it will compare to other MAC pinks?

Incoco review

Here is my long time coming Incoco review! Finally.

Incoco is a dry nail application. In other words they are 3-in-1 self stick nail strips. What really drew me into Incoco was the claim that they last 10 days. I scoffed at this claim, I've rarely used a nail product before that actually does as it claims and this was a doozy.

When I first opened the air tight foil package I found the nail "bar" a little intimidating...

There are 8 nail strips on each bar, on each end of the strip is a different size (except for a couple) so they fit different size nails. You pluck them apart and then decide what strip fits each finger...

Peel off the front that is protecting the strip and then peel off the white little paper. The hardest part of the application is getting it positioned right. Once I had it down it was easy but my first set took about half an hour. Smooth it out and then...

Using a file/nail buffer I lightly buff the edge of my nail to rub off the excess. They also say you can just pull it off but I didn't manage to do that myself. As you can see in the above photo I had some difficulty choosing sizing on the first couple fingers. I found it easier to use the larger ones and clean up the sides (which was way easier than normal polish).

Finished nail!

The one big downfall for me, which probably isn't one for most, is that most of the strips were just way too large for my nails (once again I'll mention, my nails are child size). Which really isn't that big a deal, it just meant more clean up.

My nails, right after I finished. You can see on my pointer how it was a little too big, it got cleaned up after. I really like the finish on these and that I don't need top coat. There does seem to be a little setting time (10-15 minutes) but it is in no way as easy to damage them as normal "wet" nails. I also like the nice clean finish at the cuticle.

So the big question is, do they last 10 minutes or 10 days?

See for yourself, this photo is taken five days after application. My nails took more damage than the Incoco strips! I did continue to wear this until 10 days was up. I did have to refresh with a coat of top coat due to some scratches from doing house work but there was not a chip in site. And let me say, do you know how hard it is for me to NOT paint my nails for 10 days? Let's just say it's super duper hard- I need my crack polish.

And because I had to make sure that it wasn't just a stroke of luck, I tested this set out of glitter french tips. Once again, they wore like a champ. This is after 5 days of wear, when I added on some fimo and gems to spice it up.

You can find out more or where to buy by visiting incoco.com.

An apology...

I'm sorry for the lack of updates this week! And generally recently.

I have so many new polishes to post but my computer just does not want me to run photoshop to edit them and every time I try it locks up in anger and then I lock up in anger. Needless to say, I'm hoping to build a new one the few couple months (as I've been meaning to for years).

This month is also very busy for me. While I don't want to make excuses this month contains my wedding anniversary, mother's birthday, my birthday and of course Thanksgiving so finding time in between planning and celebrating is difficult. And anyone who is a blogger knows it sometimes becomes hard to balance life, friends and family along with blogging.

But I'm going to go attempt to get some posts ready for you, I promise things to make another post tonight and tomorrow!

And thank you all once again for reading, glancing, commenting and even lurking.

New HD tv thanks to Lockerz :)

I have a quick post that isn't beauty related here. Anyone that knows me knows I am a huge cheapskate/penny pincher and I love anything on deep discount or free. So, I would like to tell you about Lockerz. I've posted on here before about my free pair of Keds, it's one of many things I've gotten for free from Lockerz. I've also received 3 64 gb 4th generation iPod touches, a PSP bundle, many gift cards, cosmetics, perfume, clothing and at least $500 through paypal.

When my husband and I decided we wanted to finally upgrade to an HD tv for Christmas we were looking for a 32" around $300. When we finally realized we could instead use Lockerz we ended up with this baby...

It's a Panasonic Viera 42" LCD HDTV, 1080p (I'm currently playing the Sims 3 on it- I love this game)! Currently selling online for around $600. The price I paid? $102.96! And it got here really quickly, we ordered on the 10th and it arrived today!

And you know I wouldn't be showing you this if it weren't real, a good deal is hard to come by but Lockerz has proven to be an excellent site. To further prove this is real/photos are taken by me; here are a couple of pics with my chubby hand and naked (yellow :( ) nails:

If you are interested in signing up please leave your email here or you if you are more comfortable you can leave it here and it will send direct to me. It's free and I promise you won't regret it!

Essie Bright Tights

You know how hard I had to try to get this to capture? The above picture was one of a million that didn't wash out the color. It's almost impossible, it's just so neon. I thought it might help if I held something black. I couldn't spot anything though, so here I am holding a Redken Anti-Snap bottle ( <3>

And then the closest I could find to something black was my Kill Audio figure...

It helped, I think? Anyways, Essie Bright Tights...I used 3 coats here and was unhappy to find CHIPS WITHIN HOURS!?!? I think I may try it again using Orly Bonder as a base, I was using Seche Clear and I think it may have been at fault. But also, I have really crappy luck with Essie, does anyone else?

Haircut and Color

Last Tuesday I got my hair chopped off. What a relief! I have ultra thick hair so it's literally a weight off my shoulder. Which is a big reason I like to keep it short. I've decide to go red for Thanksgiving and Christmas (because I'm festive like that, and you know our Christmas card photo is gonna be pimp).

When I first cut it I dyed it with Manic Panic Wildfire. While I generally like MP dye (which is apparently rare) this color was just not what I wanted....
It appeared already washed out and more orange/rust than I wanted. I was looking for a vivid fire engine or blood red. So, I spent a day trying to dirty up my hair (I find the dye sticks better when my hair hasn't been washed for a couple days) and then dyed it with N'Rage Crimson Red, which I left overnight this time and got this...

And I am absolutely loving it!

But don't be surprised if you see a FOTD or two with blonde hair, my computer does NOT want me to photoshop anything so your getting these first :P

Except for one thing, do I just not wear blush? I can't seem to figure out what colors to use that won't clash. Everything is too pink, any recs?

Orly Lunar Eclipse + Sparkly Nails stickers

Orly Lunar Eclipse is one of 4 polishes I picked up from the Cosmix FX collection and I have to say, I'm a little disappointed in it. At $10 a bottle I expected to be more than a shimmery blue. Pretty it is but not quite the dazzler I expected. But I did choose it as a base for using some Sparkly Nails nail art sticker. I'm using the swirl bindi ones here and they are the prettiest nail stickers I've ever seen. The colors on them are gorgeous and I didn't want to waste them on any old base color.

The nail stickers themselves stick really well, once they were on I couldn't budge them on my own unless I wanted to ruin them. They came 10 in a pack but I couldn't see myself wearing them all at once.

The one complaint I have isn't quite a complaint about the stickers but maybe my nails. I have very tiny fingernails (I can wear kids press-ons) and they are also very very curved. Which means most nail art that must stick to the nail doesn't work out for me :(

You can find these and many other gorgeous nail art stickers on sparkly-nails.co.uk.

And here is a close up of one of the decals, it doesn't quite capture the pretty multi-colors in the flowers.

Halloween "devil" and "gypsy" eye looks

I was asked by a friend to do makeup for her and a few other people and two of the costumes were a devil and gypsy. I decided to play around and do a "practice" run and this is what I came up with.

Devil...
She suggested flames but I find things like that hard to work into something flattering so I took the idea and played with it. When I did her actual makeup I brought the point up to almost her brow and a little bit sharper. I also added red glitter lightly to the outer corner. And false lashes of course! For this I used my Manly 120 palette.

Gypsy...
I went with a simple smoky eye and for that extra Halloween glam I added some holo glitter. And once again, of course fake lashes! For this I used some Fyrinnae shades and the glitter is from Fantasy Makers.

All in all I was rather proud of myself, I managed to apply not only liquid liner but false lashes to 5 other people.

Color Club With Abandon

Gorgeous, gorgeous color. Black base with gold shimmer/flakies. Upon closer inspection it seems to have some green and purple in there somehow too when the flash hits it right. 3 coats. Sorry for the messy nails, these were taken before my top coat was even dry!
