MAC Viva Glam Gaga II lipstick swatches

I received my tube of Viva Glam Gaga II a few days ago, while I was in the peak of my fever. So it sat waiting for me to finally feel better. I was worried after pulling it out of the box, it is much more brown in the tube than I expected. But on the lips, it is the perfect nude. I like how much coverage this shade gives as an Amplified cream- my lips are pretty pigmented and shades like Creme D' Nude just don't work on me because of this. However, because of the high amount of coverage I would recommend prepping the lips (mine are shamefully dry after my week long flu :( ). Some find the formula a little on the dry side, I like to put a coat of balm under to help prevent this.

Revlon Colorstay Soft Nude, Revlon Matte Nude Attitude, MAC Viva Glam Gaga II, MAC Creme D' Nude, MAC Siss

Closest to Revlon Soft Nude but the coverage isn't the same at all.

What do you think of Viva Glam Gaga II? Better than the first? Are you picking it up?

Claire's Mermaid

We all do it, buy a polish you know will be much too sheer and full of disappointment. Claire's Mermaid is one of those polishes. Seen below is 4 coats, but with the blue/green hue it is just a little bit too unflattering. In bottle this is gorgeous, turquoise that lean green with pink/purple iridescent- this is a good layering polish but as I've said many times before, I hate layering.

Wet N Wild Lagoon of Envy FOTD

I have GOT to work on my titles, haha! Awhile back I grabbed all of the Wet N Wild eyeshadow singles on sale (at about $1.99 each, if you find a BOGO this is a deal from heaven) and there they sat unopened until I was searching for something to throw on. Here is what I wore to go totally fail at Bowling for Boobies :)

Valentine's Day :)

I realized I never posted Valentines photos, it's not tooooo late, right? We celebrated on the 10th, I don't like dealing with the Valentine's crowds and really we just wanted an excuse to not feel guilty about going out to an expensive dinner!
Apollo in her Valentine's day dress (alright, I bought this after for under $2, but I couldn't NOT include it! Also, I hate the floors in my apartment!)

What I got for Valentine's :) He also got me this whale shower shelf, which is meant for kids toys but if your shower is COVERED in product like mine it's handy and holds quite a bit)

For dinner we went out to our favorite sushi restaurant and splurged.
First we shared a Thai iced tea, which was really sweet and yummy.

Crab Sunomono- which is crabmeat served over cucumbers, shredded carrots and served with a special dressing. It was really good, I was worried the carrots would be a little weird.

This picture makes me so hungry! This is hands down the best sushi I've ever had. I ordered a TGIF roll (inside: tuna, shrimp, avocado, asparagus and scallions, on the outside: tempura white fish with a special sauce. It's warm and cool at the same time and so yummy) and my husband ordered a Tommy Roll (coconut shrimp, cucumber and honey mayo).

And for dessert we ordered Tempura ice cream (it was recommended to us) which is some kind of fried ice cream, I found this how to on it if you are curious. Let's just say it's super bad for you ;)

How was your Valentine's day? What did you do?

5 Minute EOTD using Fyrinnae

Since I'm sick in bed with a fabulous fever, you guys get 2 posts today! I wore this last Friday to go to lunch with some friends. I have a tendency to set my alarm for the shortest amount of time to get ready possible (I love my sleep) so I threw this on quickly:

My hair is FRIED (it's actually 100x better now- I love my Redken All Soft!). Products used:
UDPP in Sin
Fyrinnae Marshmallow Puffs
Fyrinnae Chaotic Evil
Maybelline Ultra Liner- waterproof
Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara
Nars Orgasm blush
MAC Her Majesty lipstick

And then I realized I had dinner plans so I added Fyrinnae Shinigami into the crease.

OPI Texas- Comparisions

While swatching I was reminded of a couple other polishes, so I did some quick comparisons. Neither were dupes by far, but I figured I'd put them up because hey- if I thought it maybe someone else did too!

I Vont To Be A Lone Star vs China Glaze Sea Spray
In bottle these looked so similar I thought they would be dupes...
Nope, not the case! IVTBAS is more icy baby blue where Sea Spray is stormy. NEXT!

Don't Mess with OPI vs Jade is the New Black and Greenwich Village
Okay, Greenwich Village isn't anywhere near close but it was on hand so I threw it in for comparisons sake :)

On nail the order is a little different: JITNB, DMWO, Greenwich Village.
JITNB is a touch more blue but unless you love love love greens you probably don't need both. I prefer DMWO.

Not Like the Movies vs Totally Fort-Worth It
Alright, you can tell in bottle these aren't at all alike. But they have a lot of similarities. They are both the same weird silver-grey with pink shimmer just in very different ways.

Wow my camera hates NLTM...totally different but I would call them cousins.

If there are any other shades in this collection you thought looked familiar let me know, if I have the shades I'll swatch 'em together!

OPI Texas Collection- Part 2

Yesterday I posted the first half of this collection- the sorbets. Today I have the others, creams and shimmers. While I liked the sorbets a lot, this half of the collection is really full of stunners.

Don't Mess With OPI- *swooooooons* The first swipe of this on my nail and I knew I was in love. I mean, look at it. It's the perfect green cream, and a 2-coater to top it off.

Suzi Loves Cowboys- and I love this polish. This very well may be my favorite in this collection. I've been searching for a brown like this, it's like I dipped my tips in dark chocolate. And it's so shiny and once again 2 coats!!

San Tan-Tonio-This is a big disappointment for me. I really love the color in the bottle but it just does some funky things to my skin tone :( It's a unique color, would probably look good on someone a little warmer or tanner than me. 2 coats.

I Vont to Be A Lone Star- Love the name, my second favorite in the collection. This icy blue is so super shimmery cause its loaded with silver flecks. What a stunner! And yet another 2 coater.

Totally Fort-Worth It- This shade would work either as a layering polish or alone in my opinion, this is 4 coats. It's a hard to describe and capture color. Silver but kind of blue with pink shimmer. Very complicated but lovely!

Austin-tacious Turquoise- This is the only kind of shade I hate to see VNL on. How pretty is this though? I can't think of another word by PRETTY. It's so sparkly, I would almost say glass flecked and the color is fantastic. 3 coats. And I like it so much you get a second photo:

OPI Texas Collection- Part 1- Sorbets

With the new Texas collection OPI is trying to introduce a new finish, Sorbet. Most people are just sticking to calling them jelly and they are very very similar. The sorbet has a slight creamy touch to it and it does remind me of sorbet (think specifically of when it is slightly melted, like after you scoop it with a warm spoon). Is it enough to call it a new finish? That's for you to decide. I did find these to all be a little on the runny side, so please excuse pooled cuticles- I'm really horrible with that! I did find these less streaky then similar polishes, although I found they all worked best at 4 coats (though you can get away with 3). They were also super shiny!

One thing I didn't think of before swatching these is how much my camera hates these kinds of
textures. I shoot nearly all my swatch photos with flash- I find for me with my camera this gives me the best true to color swatches. But when it comes with anything anywhere near sheer this becomes a problem. While these polishes do give you some VNL (don't be afraid of VNL- it's not always a bad thing!) my flash will exaggerate how bad it is, so please keep this in mind!

And because I know you've probably seen swatches of these a lot by now, at the bottom I layered them over white and how it looks coat by coat.

Now that we have that out of the way...SWATCHES!

Y'all Come Back Ya Hear?- delicious bright orange. This is a shade that would be great nearly all year round.

Do You Think I'm Tex-y?- WELL DO YOU? I love the name on this one, it's silly but cute. I'd call this a raspberry shade, I really like this one.

Houston We Have A Purple- Another adorable name. I really thought I was going to love this one in the bottle but I thought this one was a little streaky- maybe due to it being a little darker. You know when grape jelly gets that weird liquid separation? That's exactly what this color looks like to me.

Guy Meets Gal-veston- Coral-pink. I really love this kind of color and this is no exception. Can't wait to wear this on my toes at the beach!

Big Hair...Big Nails- This conjures up thoughts of Dolly Parton to me for some reason... but she's not from Texas, so anyways. This is the red coral to counter Guy Meets Gal-veston. I really like this shade, it's BRIGHT! I think I really am beginning to like reds...

Too Hot Pink To Hold 'Em- Mmm, this color is so yummy! It's the perfect subdued hot pink and possibly my favorite of the Sorbets!

One thing I was disappointed with is the color selection. While on the nail there is a distinct difference between colors, in bottle some of them are pretty similar. I keep getting mixed up with what bottle is which and I would just liked to see a bigger variety. Check out bottles together:
To show you how these layer up coat by coat:

and because I had to try it here they are layered over white, this is 2 coats of each:
From thumb to pinkie- Houston We Have A Purple, Do You think I'm Tex-y, Too Hot Pink to Hold 'Em, Big Hair...Big Nails, Guy Meets Gal-veston- and in the corner is Y'all Come Back Ya Hear?

Talk about sexy neons! Over white really brings out the true colors and makes them look super neon!

All in all, I liked these a lot. I'm a big fan of jelly finishes (despite how my camera feels) and these are no different. They remind me of summer and frozen delicious treats, and they make me long for my vacation to come quicker than ever.

See anything you like? How do you feel about Sorbet now that you've seen swatches?

*PR samples provided for review, this does not in any way influence my opinion.
