Recreating MAC's Cult of Cherry promo

What does a girl like me do with no plans on a Friday night? Well, pull out the makeup of course!

I mentioned that I've been running seriously low on inspiration lately. I keep a folder of inspiration/looks I want to recreate on my computer and the first one that caught my eye tonight was from MAC's Cult of Cherry. Recently the lovely Lily of Beauty's Bad Habit tried her hand at recreating this promo, seeing her post made me want to try a hand at this and other promos and face charts from MAC. I'll admit, I've tried a to recreate a couple before with awful results. How do you think I did?

This is about as close as I come to that sultry model look, ha!

The one thing I really noticed about the makeup in this photo is the shape flows with her eyebrows (if that makes sense). Because I couldn't find my glue stick to cover that part of my brows so yes, I badly photoshopped them ;) I hope you don't mind!

With flash and 0 photoshopping!

And a bonus webcam pic!

One of the reasons I really wanted to try this face chart is that it breaks a couple standard beauty "rules"- don't draw attention to two parts of the face and don't bring your eyeshadow straight up to your eyebrows.

Products used:
Manly 188 palette- all eyeshadow
Maybelline the Falsies mascara
MAC Dark Diversion fluidline- as my lipstick!
Avon Cherry Liqueur glazewear- over lipstick
Some random bronzer that is in my bathroom I'm too lazy to look at- contouring

So, what do you guys think? Would you like to see more posts like this? What is your favorite MAC promo?

My Pink Lips collection Part 1

I decided that since I have a huge collection of pink lipsticks and glosses that I would swatch them for you lovelies. This will be at least a 3 part post spread out between the next couple days. I'll be filling in later what each formula is. Sorry!

If you like these let me know, I will swatch all my reds and everything else for ya!

L to R: [MAC Lipglass- Peroxide. I really don't love how sticky MAC glosses are personally] [Jessie's Girl Liquid Glass- Rose, Blossom, Sheer Energy. I really like these, not too slick or sticky.] [Covergirl Shine Blast- 815, 830, 350. A little on the thin side and the applicator can't seem to pick up enough gloss] [Neutrogena Moistureshine- Nutri Berry]

L to R: [Milani 3d Glitzy- Fashion Diva, Starshine. These are super high shine, I really like them] [Mary Kay Nourishine- Fancy Nancy] [Revlon Super Lustrous- Lilac Pastelle, Pink Pop. These are alright but seem to disappear off my lips extremely quick] [Covergirl Amazemint- Slap Happy] [L'oreal Infallible- Posy]

L to R: [Rimmel- Dare, Snog] [Sally Hansen Diamond 12 Hour- Princess] [Color Club- Swak. Very tacky formula] [OPI Lip Sheers- Sheer Heaven. I really like the texture of this] [MAC lip lacquer- Veneer. DC and I don't believe it was too popular but I like the high shine and color] [MAC lipglass- Of Corset] [Revlon Colorstay Mineral Lipglaze- Endless Lilac]

L to R- [L'oreal Endless Liquide- Everlasting Lilac] [Avon Glazewear- Tickled Pink] [Maybelline- Go Bare] [L'oreal Bare Naturale- Soft Petal] [Jessie's Girl Formula 13- Papaya] [Milani Crystal Gloss- Baby Love] [Wet n Wild Speed Gloss- Reckless]

L to R: [Maybelline Shine sensational- Sweet Indulgence, Cherry Bloom] [Milani Buzz Worthy- Buzz Off] [Cover Girl Wetslicks- Guava Splash] [Maybelline shiny-licious- Crushed Candy] [L'oreal HIP Jelly Balm- Plush]

New Year Nails, Makeup & Hair

I loved these nails so much! I used Revlon Top Speed Black Star as the base- 2 coats. It's a beautiful pearly soft black. I started my glitter gradiant with Orly Shine On Crazy Diamond. It's silver holo glitter top coat that is prettier to me in the bottle than on the nails. After that I layered on Orly Prisma Gloss Gold which is an ultra fine gold holo glitter top coat and is totally gorgeous! After that I still needed a little bit more so on the tips I added Color Club Magic Attraction which is a gorgeous glitter- silver but has a hint of pink. If you like glitter and don't own it you should!

New Year's Eve I decided I was over being a "red" head and ended up with this...
You can still see the highlights of red but I love it! We used Manic Panic Ultraviolet over faded out N'Rage Crimson Red. I like that it came out looking highlighted which wasn't intentional. And not having red hair meant I could wear my new MAC Lickable lipstick (Christmas gift from one of my awesome ladies!) and I based New Year's makeup around that and of course I had to get extra glammed up! We decided to not go out but went to a party which ended up being ridiculous fun (until the next day ;)) and the best New Years I've had yet.

Products Used:
MAC Painterly Paint Pot
MAC Bare Study Paint Pot (to highlight)
Wet n Wild Brulee eyeshadow
MAC Classic Cream liquid liner
Maybelline liquid liner (I can never remember the name)
Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara
Falsies from Forever 21 (they had purple strands in them but it wouldn't capture on camera)
Milani Brow Kit
Tarte Clean Slate face primer
Almay 16 hour foundation
Mary Kay Mineral powder foundation
MAC Sweetness blush
Revlon Age Defying Face Illuminator in Bare Light (to highlight face)
MAC Lickable lipstick

I also curled my hair, which doesnt happen too often because it takes me forever and a day. I used Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray and my curls could still move and even after partying like a lush and waking up the next morning my curls were still in place. Pretty darn impressive if you ask me.

And just because, here is my friend Kate (who dyed my hair:)) and me at midnight!
Here is to 2011, and to my lovely readers <3>

Quick & Simple FOTD

For some last minute Christmas shopping with friends Christmas Eve :) I wanted something really quick but still festive so I pulled out my MAC Classic Cream liner- a pale creamy gold shimmer.

I also wanted to use MAC My Highland Honey blush that I had newly acquired. I picked it up on a trip to NYC the weekend before Christmas in the huge Macy's using a gift card that I got for my birthday. I might be cheesy but I'll always remember those things when I use it! I had such a hard time deciding what to get but once I spotted it I knew I had to have it. If you haven't seen it check out Temptalia's swatches- it's a weird gold almost yellow peach.

Products used:
MAC Painterly Paint Pot
Wet N Wild Brulee eyeshadow
Maybelline liquid liner
MAC Classic Cream liquid liner
Maybelline The Falsies mascara
Milani eye brow kit
Mary Kay mineral powder foundation in Light 01
MAC Highland Honey blush
anddd some random gloss I don't remember!

Silver smoky eye & nude lips using drug store produc

I realized it had been a while since I had worn a simple silver smoky eye. I recently have been trying more drug store products and the only thing in this entire FOTD that isn't drug store is my primer- MAC Painterly Paint Pot.

Products used:
MAC Painterly paint pot
Maybelline Cool Effects pencil in Black Frost *read below for thoughts*
Milani Runway eyes palette in Backstage Basics
L'Oreal waterproof liquid liner
Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara
Milani Brow Fix kit in light (my new love)
Almay tlc foundation in ivory 01
L'oreal Bare Naturale in Nude Beige (which in RL was ridiculous orange on me)
NYC Color Wheel mosaic face powder in Pink Cheek Glow
Revlon Nude Attitude lipstick
Milani clear gloss that I can't remember the name of

*I decided to give these another try despite harsh memories of greasy mess all over my lids from the first time I used on back when I was what? 16? I have to say I was happier with this than I thought I would be.

It doesn't have as harsh a tingling cooling effect as I remember and it managed to not crease after a couple of hours wear without a base when I tested it- so I was pretty impressed. I wore it as a base color to amplify my black shadow. When I got home 10 hours later from my errands and looked in the mirror it hadn't creased. It had however bled above the crease (and by bled I mean like when pencil liner does this and creates a weird arch over your crease, I've been trying to think of an easier way to explain this- do you gals know what I mean?) but it was easy to smudge with just light strokes of my fingertip to blend it. I'll fill you in as I test these more but I just wanted to put my thought on them down!

Halloween "devil" and "gypsy" eye looks

I was asked by a friend to do makeup for her and a few other people and two of the costumes were a devil and gypsy. I decided to play around and do a "practice" run and this is what I came up with.

Devil...
She suggested flames but I find things like that hard to work into something flattering so I took the idea and played with it. When I did her actual makeup I brought the point up to almost her brow and a little bit sharper. I also added red glitter lightly to the outer corner. And false lashes of course! For this I used my Manly 120 palette.

Gypsy...
I went with a simple smoky eye and for that extra Halloween glam I added some holo glitter. And once again, of course fake lashes! For this I used some Fyrinnae shades and the glitter is from Fantasy Makers.

All in all I was rather proud of myself, I managed to apply not only liquid liner but false lashes to 5 other people.

Dramatic bright fuchsia smoky eye

For a night out I decided I wanted a smoky eye but with a pop of color. While my hair is blonde for the moment (with a little bit of pink here and there) I am taking advantage of my ability to wear pink without clashing.

Urban Decay Primer Potion
Fyrinnae Harlequin (crease and up)
Fyrinnae Marshmallow Puffs (inner corner)
Fyrinnae Fancy Lad (pink)
MAC Bright Fuchsia pigment (brighter pink)
Almay shimmery black liner (the name escapes me at the moment)
Maybelline the Falsies mascara

Viva Glam Gaga lipstick

MAC Sweetness blush

Latest Fyrinnae order Dia de Los Muertos and FOTD

The new Dia de los Muertos collection from Fyrinnae is now on their site, as soon as I notice I rushed to order and I was not disappointed!

For both the above picture of the pots and the swatches below:
From L-R and Top to Bottom- Danse Macabre (vibrant grass green with gold shimmer -free sample), Calavera Cupcakes (silver-purple), Eternal Innocence (peacock teal-green), La Noche and (deep yet bright midnight blue) Catrina Cabaret (dusty teal with purple shimmer)

I am blown away by how gorgeous these are. Such vibrant colors! I have a lot of Fyrinnae shadows but these have potential to become favorites (I'm looking at you La Noche and Calvera Cupcakes). And look below at the cute little sugar skulls on the labels, it's the little things that make me happy and this is one of them.

And because I couldn't resist playing when I got them, here is my FOTD...

Products used:
MAC Painterly Paint Pot (base)
Revlon Vintage Lace matte eyeshadow (highlight)
Fyrinnae Danse Macabre (inner corner to middle of lid)
Fyrinnae Eternal Innocence (outer corner of lid)
Fyrinnae La Noche (crease)
Fyrinnae Catrina Cabaret (above crease to blend)
Fyrinnae Pearl Sun (inner corner)

Cover Girl Liquiline Blast liner in Blue Boom (waterline- blended with Sephora liner)
Hard Candy 1,000 Lashes mascara in Mermaid Teal
