Orly Coquette Cutie, Ancient Jade, Pure Porcelain

I loved these colors together so I had to figure out a way to wear them all, since I couldn't decide between them. I used Orly Pure Porcelain as a base, on all nails I layered Coquette Cutie and my highlight nails are topped with Ancient Jade.

Orly Pure Porcelain & SH Distressed Denim crackle

I fell in love when I saw Pure Porcelain. In bottle this is just ever so softly off-white. On the nail it pulls slightly pink. Love-love-love. But of course, I didn't want to keep it too simple so I added a couple of crackle nails.

After my review of Sally Hansen's crackle in Fuchsia Shock I was ready to not try the other colors at all. But I ended up getting suckered into the blue- Distressed Denim. What can I say, I love crackle! I already missed out on the China Glaze crackles (which it seems I will never get my hands on :( ) so I gave it another go. This is the only time I've tried it so I can't give a full review. I did try it over a pale color and on the thumb it does look slightly sheer. I might go ahead and do another ghetto card of swatches to see how this works. All the other issues I complained about in my review of Fuchsia Shock are still there, especially the wonky brush.

How do you like Pure Porcelain? To pale for your taste or are you loving the white nail trend?

What color would you like to see topped with Distressed Denim?

Orly It's Not Rocket Science

I know this has been on every nail blog on the planet by now but I am only just getting around to it. Pretty bad, right? Anyways, Orly It's Not Rocket Science is from the Cosmic fx collection- which when it came out I picked up 4 polishes and all of them weren't quite as great as the hype had made them seem (yes, including Space Cadet) but It's Not Rocket Science won me over. It's nothing overly complicated but it's super GREEN and super SPARKLY.

I think my initial disappointment in this collection was how ridiculously over the top Orly was about how *~unique~* these were (The MINERALFX technology includes specialty mica, that allows for a clearer, vibrantly bright lustrous shimmer. Crystals allow for a multi-dimensional color transformation. Glass particles carefully controlled in shape and size create a luminous phenomenon. This combination infused with the Silica and specific colors selected create this exclusive technology that gives nails a unique optical effect that’s magnified as the lighting source intensifies or viewing angle changes.- SOUNDS PRETTY MAGICAL RIGHT?). When the press release for these came out I was super pumped up, coudn't wait to get my hands on them...but while the colors were unique, they weren't that uber special. And they weren't unique for long, as at least a couple of these shades have probably close to a dozen dupes by now- Space Cadet and Haley's Comet.

These shades were really prettier in the bottle- they shift beautifully from shade to shade but once on my nails I really didn't notice it other than obvious differences in the sun/shade. INRS is a hard to describe green in my opinion. It has a darker green base with chartreuse specks of shimmer. 3 coats.

I'm done with my mini rant now- you may enjoy swatches below if you are still reading ;)

Orly Honeymoon in Style

From the Bridal Color collection, Honeymoon in Style is a sheer that would be best suited for a french manicure. What you see below? FOUR COATS! From the bottle I could tell this sucker was going to be sheer but not to this extent. I wish it wasn't because in the bottle it is such a gorgeous pinkish champagne loaded with absolutely gorgeous white shimmer flecks. While my nails are no where near as yellow as they were a few months ago, I still don't think I can get away with something this sheer. Application was fine otherwise, typical of Orly. I think I may have to try to layer this one, I think I just have to.

Orly Supernatural

I don't quite get the name on this one. Orly Supernatural is a beautiful dusty pink full of shimmer and I almost want to say it's kinda mauve. It's very pretty and for some reason was a lemming for quite awhile, then after I finally got my hands on it I left it sitting in my untried pile for months. I finally put it on and I remember why I wanted it so bad. It's just simply a beautiful flattering pink that is still in my opinion work appropriate. Here is 2 coats.

New Year Nails, Makeup & Hair

I loved these nails so much! I used Revlon Top Speed Black Star as the base- 2 coats. It's a beautiful pearly soft black. I started my glitter gradiant with Orly Shine On Crazy Diamond. It's silver holo glitter top coat that is prettier to me in the bottle than on the nails. After that I layered on Orly Prisma Gloss Gold which is an ultra fine gold holo glitter top coat and is totally gorgeous! After that I still needed a little bit more so on the tips I added Color Club Magic Attraction which is a gorgeous glitter- silver but has a hint of pink. If you like glitter and don't own it you should!

New Year's Eve I decided I was over being a "red" head and ended up with this...
You can still see the highlights of red but I love it! We used Manic Panic Ultraviolet over faded out N'Rage Crimson Red. I like that it came out looking highlighted which wasn't intentional. And not having red hair meant I could wear my new MAC Lickable lipstick (Christmas gift from one of my awesome ladies!) and I based New Year's makeup around that and of course I had to get extra glammed up! We decided to not go out but went to a party which ended up being ridiculous fun (until the next day ;)) and the best New Years I've had yet.

Products Used:
MAC Painterly Paint Pot
MAC Bare Study Paint Pot (to highlight)
Wet n Wild Brulee eyeshadow
MAC Classic Cream liquid liner
Maybelline liquid liner (I can never remember the name)
Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara
Falsies from Forever 21 (they had purple strands in them but it wouldn't capture on camera)
Milani Brow Kit
Tarte Clean Slate face primer
Almay 16 hour foundation
Mary Kay Mineral powder foundation
MAC Sweetness blush
Revlon Age Defying Face Illuminator in Bare Light (to highlight face)
MAC Lickable lipstick

I also curled my hair, which doesnt happen too often because it takes me forever and a day. I used Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray and my curls could still move and even after partying like a lush and waking up the next morning my curls were still in place. Pretty darn impressive if you ask me.

And just because, here is my friend Kate (who dyed my hair:)) and me at midnight!
Here is to 2011, and to my lovely readers <3>

Orly Lunar Eclipse + Sparkly Nails stickers

Orly Lunar Eclipse is one of 4 polishes I picked up from the Cosmix FX collection and I have to say, I'm a little disappointed in it. At $10 a bottle I expected to be more than a shimmery blue. Pretty it is but not quite the dazzler I expected. But I did choose it as a base for using some Sparkly Nails nail art sticker. I'm using the swirl bindi ones here and they are the prettiest nail stickers I've ever seen. The colors on them are gorgeous and I didn't want to waste them on any old base color.

The nail stickers themselves stick really well, once they were on I couldn't budge them on my own unless I wanted to ruin them. They came 10 in a pack but I couldn't see myself wearing them all at once.

The one complaint I have isn't quite a complaint about the stickers but maybe my nails. I have very tiny fingernails (I can wear kids press-ons) and they are also very very curved. Which means most nail art that must stick to the nail doesn't work out for me :(

You can find these and many other gorgeous nail art stickers on sparkly-nails.co.uk.

And here is a close up of one of the decals, it doesn't quite capture the pretty multi-colors in the flowers.

Orly Iron Butterfly

The 3rd and final installment of the Orly Metal Chic collection. This is a great steel black matte polish with great application- 2 coats.

Orly Solid Gold

I typically hate gold polish but Solid Gold is a gorgeous darker gold matte metallic. What a mouthful! From last years Metal Chic collection and is my favorite of the 3. Application was fantastic- 2 coats.

Orly Glam Rock

Orly Glam Rock is a copper matte polish from the Metal Chic collection from last year. For some reason it's only now showing up in my CVS! Application was great on this, 2 coats and a very nice consistency for a matte. And isn't it a beauty?

I'll be posting the other 2 from this collection in the next couple days, this is my least favorite of the trio.

Orly It's Up To Blue

A no-frills shimmery bright blue. Great application as usual with Orly. 3 coats.

In other news, so far today has been horrible. As positive as I typically try to be...FML.

Orly Truly Tangerine

Orly Truly Tangerine is a lovely red toned orange cream. Still has some VNL after 3 coats but very pretty just the same. Not much to say on this one, anything left will be said by my swatch :)

Huge drugstore haul and Orly Rage vs Milani I'm Online

First off, has anyone else been getting errors when trying to upload pictures since they changed the upload form? Every time I try to post I end up frustrated. It also doesn't seem to let me change the order pictures are in once uploaded?

Anyways, I had a major drug store haul this past week (while searching for that darned Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure) and here are my findings:
8 Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's: Sea Breeze, Presto Pink, Speedy Sunburst, Rapid Red, Flyin'Fuschia, Night Flight, Pronto Pink and Whirlwind White (I LOVE these polishes, they are the best for Konading and for painting my pups black claws), 2 Revlon Scented polishes in Grape Icy and Gum Drop and another Revlon I don't remember the name of (something paradise, will update later). Laying down we have Romantic Blossom from SH, 2 bottles of SH Magic and another SH all dollar store finds.
Here are some more dollar store finds! I've been searching for these forever and finally struck gold! I don't remember the names right now but I grabbed a second bottle of Fire Opal (the 3rd and 4th bottles) to giveaway since it is HTF. A couple Wet N Wild new shades (can't remember and Night Prowl), Milani I'm Online and Dot Com and Hard Candy Lava (going in the giveaway) and Sweet Pea.
Cover Girl Wetslicks Amazemint- this stuff is amazing! It is minty goodness (best for the bar if you don't feel like chewing gum ;), the two new NYC liquid eyeliners and blush sticks, L'Oreal eyeliner (can't recall the name because it is ridiculous) and Poshe top coat.
Alba facial toner and scrub, L'Oreal Go 360 Clean for sensitive skin and Burt's Bees Peppermint and Thoroughly Therapeutic foot creams.

You can expect a bunch of reviews in the next few days, not so much the polish but the rest. But there will always be a nice dose of polish attached, I promise ;)
I had to pick up Milani I'm Online so I could swatch it against Orly Rage. I'm drawn to rose golds, always have been. When I was 13 I had a rose gold ring from Avon and I decided then and there my wedding ring would be rose gold...hubby did not disappoint! I have some swatches of Orly Rage by itself but it is so hard to capture metallics. In the above picture Orly Rage is on my 1st and 3rd fingers (pointer and ring) and Milani I'm Online is on my 2nd and 4th (middle and pinkie). They are nearly dead ringers, I'm Online has a touch more silver to it but do you need both of them? Nah. In fact Rage is going up for swap, I feel like the tiny touch of silver makes I'm Online lean a little more rosey than copper and I like it that way.

Orly Wild Wisteria + Sally Hansen Blue Blast Konad

I seem to have caught a nasty cold so just a quick update. Orly Wild Wisteria is a midnight purple cream from the Bloom collection. I honestly had no interest in the collection until I spotted this color in CVS. Application was amazing- one coat was nearly enough but I did two. None of the usual streaky mess of application you usually get with dark colors. I then stamped over it with Sally Hansen Blue Blast (so good for Konad!). No matter how hard I try I can never get the konad on straight. Oh well!

OPI You're Such a Kabuki Queen + Orly Prisma Gloss Gold

This color photographs very red. It is a coral-pink with red tones to it but not as red as it is here. I tried and tried in different lighting and it just wouldn't look right. This is 2 coats of OPI You're Such a Kabuki Queen with 2 coats of Orly Prisma Gloss Gold.

I've read a lot of hate on the Prisma Gloss but I don't mind, it is a lighter dusting of glitter than you normally can find and it is a nice light touch instead of being in your face glitter. This wore really crappy. Maybe it is just me but OPI tends to chip really quick for me :/ Which is why I usually steer clear of them.
