7 Rimmel lipstick swatches

While this is primarily a polish blog, one of my many loves is makeup and specifically lipstick. I own a huge basketfull of glosses and lipsticks and I've noticed most drug store brands don't get a lot of love. So, I'm going to give them some! It is hard looking at drug store lipstick and no knowing what the shade looks like, that sealed little devil of a tube you can't try on is frustrating. Here are my collection of lipsticks from Rimmel, one of my favorite drug store companies.

Rimmel Red Alert is a Moisture Renew Lipcolor. I don't truthfully find these to feel much different from the older formula but maybe that is just me. This is a classic true red. Please ignore my sloppy application, this was the last swatch and I was ready to be done with it! Hehe, but that aside...I like the color but it has been done many times before. In fact- NYC Retro Red is the same exact color and a slightly less glossy finish for 99 cents.
Pink Chic is another Moisture Renew and is one of those semi-sheer creams if you know what I mean. I always have trouble with these and leaving tell-tale lines in the top lip when I put my lips together. I will mention these swatches aren't blotted and that might help it out. Once again though, I feel like I already own colors exactly like this.
Coral Shimmer...I can't decide if I like this on me or not. What do you think? My lips are pretty pigmented which is a problem with sheer-er colors. I think this may be a little too warm for me but it's pretttty! I always try to pull off corals even though it rarely works out. I do love colors like this though because when I don't want to wear lipgloss this is just enough shimmer and color.
Pink Blush. Look familiar? Yeah. Pink Blush is just a single shade darker than Pink Chic. If it were a little bit more brown (just the teeniest bit) it would be a dupe for MAC Snob, even so it is very passable.
Crush is a weird color. I have a love of weird lipstick shades so from the back of the lipstick I was expecting it to be more orange. This is a weird brown-orange-tan. Kinda reminds me of the 90's. Either way, to frosty for my taste.
This is one of my favorite reds ever- this swatch doesn't do this dark red shimmery masterpiece justice. If you like red lipstick I would recommend picking this baby up.
Celeb is a pretty basic pink in my opinion, a little bit more berry toned and just kinda blah for me.

I also have a swatch of Dreamy from the new Moisture Renews somewhere that I have to dig up, don't know where it disappeared to!

D'ya know. I just don't see the difference between expensive and cheapo lippies. I can FEEL and SMELL the difference but don't see it.

I have a great Rimmel. Red Diva or Diva Red - supposedly a dupe for Mac Ruby Woo. It's great at what it does. Blue-red.

I agree, for me the big difference is color selection. Otherwise they do feel and wear the same exact way.

I will say when I want a red to stay on though I turn to me MAC Russian Red but that thing stays put like nothing else probably because it's matte.

Thank you for this! I don't mind having lip swatches on a nail blog. I do it because I LOVE lip stuff. It's our blogs. We do what we want and it should resemble us. Coral Shimmer gives a great volume to lips - it's my favorite from all the swatches!

Beautiful reds! Thanks for sharing now I know what reds to be on the lookout for. I wish my lips were that perfect but not even close.

Red Alert is great!! I like it when people occassionally review other products on their blogs, it's your blog after all!

First of all, I just wish I had your lips! They're so great - and I love the pink hair too. I find that drugstore lipsticks smell gross so I avoid getting them and then, if I ever am tempted and buy them, I remember why I don't! Also, not being able to try on a colour first is a problem. How do the RImmel lipsticks smell? (I'm really a MAC lipstick loyalist!)

Thanks sweetie :) I think Rimmel smells a little like vanilla, similar to MAC. Most drug store lipsticks typically have a similar smell just the cheaper ones (wet n wild and nyc) tend to be a little...crayon like?
