I made it about a week without painting my nails, only using the lightener. I can't stand it anymore :P I have to say, it says it should start to work in 14 days...that is a little bit long for me. I noticed absolutely no difference in color in those 7 days. Is it worth whitening them if no one gets to see them anyways? :P They are always covered by polish!
Anyways, this is a quick drug store find. One that made my husband say "oooh". It is a little more creamy in real life, think the powder that comes with Easy Mac and Cheese. I realized my collection was lacking a nice orange cream and this is perfect.
Please ignore the ragged cuticles- I have been spring cleaning a lot! And these are just a quick swatch so there was no clean up.

Very nice! I haven't seen that colour in the drugstore.
I've been lightening mine for over a month now. I use 1 coat of SH Insta-Brite (not instant at all) underneath every manicure. It took a long time to be noticeably different but I love the results now! Can you wear your lightener under color? I like my unpolished nails once again. That orange polish is gorgeous, I'm going to look for it here. Thanks for the swatches! -JenB
Skulda: I've only found it at one CVS here so it might be new.
Anon: A couple people have mentioned the SH Insta-Brite but I can't seem to find it anywhere! I don't know if mine can be used under polish, I was for a few weeks (I change my polish nearly everyday so the usage was the same) and didn't notice any difference then either.
loverlada: I change mine almost daily, too! It did take a month of insta-brite to get them to the awesome state they're in now. Sorry to hear you can't find the SH insta brite. I've read people have a lot of success using an effervescing denture tablet in warm water, once per day for 3 days then once weekly. I wear a lot of dark nail polish and live in the desert (high uv) so that wasn't enough for my nails. Okay I found on transdesign.com two things, Seche Bright which might be like the insta-brite and a kit Seche First Aid Nail Whitening Kit. Good luck with it. -JenB
