Random Post!

Let me start off by saying: I currently have no 'net. Which is why I have disappeared. I also have recently gained a promotion to Head of Cosmetics in my sweet retail job so have been working more. I have also been horrible and not even bothering to take photos of anything I do with my nails or makeup although for the most part it's been rather boring. But, I have photos already edited for a review of the Revolution curler from Urban Decay so I should hopefully have that up tomorrow night. For now, here is a random picture post. Hope you enjoy <3

Let's start with some sweet bathroom pics from work...

Dressed up...

Halloween...

My birthday...my first successful Victory roll!

My newest obsession, MAC Let's Skate! Paint pot

My new lazy makeup, blended eyeliner. I used the Prestige white liquid liner and the rest are MUFE (hot pink, red and purple...I hate how their names are coded to numbers because I just can't remember them) which are also my other new obsession. Taken after 9 hours of wear!

Anyone watch Rupaul's Drag Race? I LOVE it. Stacy Layne Matthews and Carmen Carrera (my fave <3) recently came here to perform so here I am with them. I look a little ragged, I came off a 9 hour shift and this was at like 2am so I was exhausted.
My newest tattoo and my Bioshock one filled in, not sure if I ever posted that! The Octopus is fresh, he was done yesterday. You can't quite tell but he's holding a little compact and everything. When it's filled in it will be sea green and pink mostly. Both done by the awesome Rhiannon from Shocker Tattoo in Albany.

Blood-liner

As soon as I picked up the Make Up Forever Aqua Liner in 10- a bright shiny red. I never thought I would love these liners this much.

Ominous Kiss

It's October, which means Halloween. And for the first time ever I really don't have a costume. I honestly don't feel like spending the money on a costume, even a cheapie DIY one. Most likely I'm just going to go with some "spooky" makeup for the day. Over the next couple weeks I'll have a few creepy FOTD's for you, if you have any requests please let me know! I would love a challenge :)

Here's the first one...
Products used:
MAC Bare Study paint pot
Urban Decay Naked palette- Gunmetal
Fyrinnae Looking Glass (inner corner)
Urban Decay Polyester Bride

For the lips:
I applied chapstick (I like Carmex's new Vanilla Twist, maybe I'll write a review) and then patted on Urban Decay's Gunmetal eyeshadow. I dabbed a little of Sally Girl Glitter Gel and then applied a gray/silver glitter. For the second photo I dabbed some clear gloss over.

Halloween "devil" and "gypsy" eye looks

I was asked by a friend to do makeup for her and a few other people and two of the costumes were a devil and gypsy. I decided to play around and do a "practice" run and this is what I came up with.

Devil...
She suggested flames but I find things like that hard to work into something flattering so I took the idea and played with it. When I did her actual makeup I brought the point up to almost her brow and a little bit sharper. I also added red glitter lightly to the outer corner. And false lashes of course! For this I used my Manly 120 palette.

Gypsy...
I went with a simple smoky eye and for that extra Halloween glam I added some holo glitter. And once again, of course fake lashes! For this I used some Fyrinnae shades and the glitter is from Fantasy Makers.

All in all I was rather proud of myself, I managed to apply not only liquid liner but false lashes to 5 other people.

Halloween with Revlon Fire & Ice collection swatches

"Are you made for Fire & Ice? For over 75 years, Revlon has brought the most beautiful colors in the world to the most beautiful women in the world. In 1952, Revlon launched its iconic color collection Fire & Ice™,with matching lips and fingertips in a bold, fiery red. This fall, Revlon brings back its Fire & Ice™ collection for today’s woman – who is as bold, confident, and glamorous as ever."

Oh, my love of all things vintage. I squealed when I spotted the display for Fire & Ice, I knew exactly what it was and quickly snatched up my choices. I picked up the signature lipstick, Fire & Ice along with Siren along with its polish partner and Demure polish. There are 4 lipsticks with matching polish in the collection.

Before I begin on the swatches and babbling, when I told my mother about this collection she said my grandmother wore Siren as her "go-to" lipstick. My mother already says I'm exactly like my grandmother and now I can look even more like her.

Fire & Ice is the perfect red lipstick, it's that classic pinup red. I may already have similar in my collection but I love the Super Lustrous lipstick formula and the slightly vintage take on the packaging (logo via 1952- there is also a nicer silver tube but I haven't spotted it in stores). Demure polish (3 coats) is a pretty dusky rose- if there is a pink to compete against those rich fall colors this may just be it.

Siren is a very orange- red and I feel it might be a little too yellow for my skintone. While it packs a punch it seems a little more sheer. Matching Siren nailpolish (2 coats) is the same orange- red and I love the matching nails and lips.

My one complaint about my purchases is one I have had before with Revlon polish- slow dry times. I recommend waiting for each coat to dry completely before applying another.

And while we're on the subject of Fire & Ice, last night I went trick-or-treating with the fam and instead of putting my Flapper costume back on I decided to go with a quicker "costume" and went pin-up(ish at least). And I used my Fire & Ice to complete the look!

For more information or to view the great remake of the original ad, check out Revlon.com and let me know what you think! Did you pick anything up from this collection or are you planning to? Do you like the idea of re-releasing original collections?

Salem, MA

Just a few pictures I took from my trip to Salem :)

Here is the highway when we first left:

Gorgeous sky out the sun roof:

GIANT kitty in a pet boutique:

We went through the 13 Ghosts 3d haunted house. It was so scary and unique! I tried to take a pic through my glasses:

My feet in my favorite shoes on the paving. It was really beautiful but my shoes have a tiny wedge heel and it was a little hard to walk on.

And din-din! We went to a place called Maggio's outside of Salem. Parking was impossible in Salem and we were starving. It was alright, a little overpriced for what you get and the food could have been better.

I ordered Taramisu and it was horrible :( Obviously had been frozen and microwaved, the top was hot and the inside was frozen and ice-chippy.

All in all it was fun but it was so busy we didn't get to do much :( I would like to go back sometime that is NOT Halloween lol!

Halloween ruffian nails and FOTD for Salem, MA

Hello lovies! I'm sorry I didn't post for a few days but I'm back :)
This weekend I went on a trip to Salem, MA with a couple of my girlfriends. We had a great time despite it being ridiculously busy and getting lost 90% of the time. I have other photos I will share with you in a separate post but here are my nails.

I pretty much suck at doing konad or nail art on myself so after getting frustrated ruining my nails trying to Halloween them up I decided to do this.

I started with a layer of SH Evening Fog from the new complete line she has out. I was originally going to leave it as just that out of frustration but decided to layer Maybelline Orange Ole over it as a ruffian. And I didn't stop there, I added another layer of ruffian with Wet N Wild Black Fog over it which had a horrible wonky brush and screwed up several of my nails but oh well! Orange Ole also had a crappy brush- with a few much longer bristles. I'd rather deal with a cheapy not so good brush in general than one that has inconsistent lengths.

I then topped it all with Seche Vite for the night but before leaving I added SH Golden Ticket from the new complete collection over just the black for a little extra glam.

Candy mushrooms! But I prefer real ones, I love mushrooms :)

Holding our matching lighters.

Here is what I wore for makeup. I kept it simple using Wet N Wilds Greed palette, L'Oreal Telescopic waterproof eyeliner (love the applicator- the tip is so tiny!) and L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes. On my lips I started off with MAC Morange lipstick but as the day went on and I couldn't be bothered to reapply (not to mention we were drinking and eating quite a bit) I switched to a clear gloss.

My hair is crazy right now! Not just the color but it needs cut really bad but I am desperate for it to grow out at the same time :/

Halloween: Flapper look

Through October I will be posting a few Halloween looks, if you would like to request anything or have an idea just leave me a comment or shoot me an email!

Keep in mind this is all for fun, I just like to play with makeup and Halloween is my favorite holiday ;)

Anyway, this Halloween I am planning to be a "Flapper" since I already have a fringe dress (I know it's not traditional, but this is Halloween and treally my figure isn't very flapper like either ;) ) so all in all I will spend very little on my costume (under $10).

My take is a very glammed up version, if you are looking for a traditional look I would direct you over to Perpetual Flapper who will set you straight.

It's really a very simple look, the important part is covering the brows (I used the gluestick method) and filling them in with a very thin and straight brow (with tail pointing drastically down at the end optional). The other important part is the lip shape, something I have a bit of trouble with (and I blame my lip shape). I intend to wear my hair in a bob (my usual cut, I will get it chopped shortly before Halloween) and finger wave it hopefully.

Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Glitter Eyeliners!

Woot, I love glitter! I was so excited when I saw these babies in Rite Aid. From left to right we have Magical- turquoise glitter, Mystical- amethyst shimmer, Cryptic- silver glitter and Secrecy- emerald glitter. I'm usually pretty happy with their liners so I scooped these babies up.
They are your typical tiny brushed liners, nothing special. The thing that bugs me the most is I had to slice into the label to open these. Either make it a little peeley label or one that breaks, especially if the only place that says the name is the label (I don't count the number on the bottom).

The only other problem is these are a little slow drying, which I've noticed a lot of glitter based liquids are :( It's nothing I can't work around but just not convenient to use sometimes.

The picture below shows 2 coats on the left column, 1 coat on the right.

And here they are over black- instant glam!

And while I was there I spotted this too, who doesn't love holo glitter!
