Essie Power Clutch + Shine of the Times= AWESOME

Click for base color and Shine of the Times porn!

Power clutch is a dark gray cream with a slight warm brown tone. I thought I would like it more but felt kinda "eh" about it when it was on. So I decided I would throw a coat of Shine of the Times over it.

When I first saw SOTT I didn't think I needed it, I barely ever layer and I already have Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure (which btw, they have another polish out now called Hidden Treasure, same line and everything and I would like to know what that is about) but OMG am I glad I picked this up. SOTT is a gorgeous flakie that flashes all kinds of gorgeous red-orange-gold-green goodness. With one coat my nails were LOADED with flakies. Prepare to see every polish I wear for the next 2 months topped with this! Literally, I'm making it a tag.

The combination of the brown tones in Power Clutch and the top coat make such an interesting combo, what do you think?

Essie Braziliant + fruit slices!

As soon as I saw the ad for Brazilant I knew I had to have it. Speaking of, I am totally loving their ads lately- including the one for this featuring Braziliant in all it's pure gorgeous shimmering color coating a seashell- google it if you haven't seen (I don't like hotlinking!). This is a gorgeous red-orange with slight pink undertones. Not neon, but packs a punch. I can't wait to wear this on my toesies this summer!
I decided to top them with a little something- some fruit fimo slices and some of those little metal bullion beads in a fuchsia-red. Sadly, I ended up "sliding" the polish on my pointer when I put them on so it got a little messy :( I also still can't get fimo slices to work for me, I think my nails are just too curved and not that the slices were cut too thick like I had thought. The beads I'm not sure if I could get to stay any longer than a couple hours before they started popping off, and they were well embedded in my
top coat- I made sure of that.
Really, I'm just kind of frustrated with all nail art other than simple polish designs. Guess it's a good reason to practice!

Braziliant can be found anywhere Essie is sold, including most major drug stores and Walmart.

Essie Turquoise & Caicos + SH Hidden Treasure

Sorry for skipping a few days on you guys! There have been a few things going on in my world that have kept me from updating.

First off, I started working on my mascara project but was having difficulties with my camera and lack of a macro lens. The damn thing just didn't want to focus on my lashes. I think I have found a way around this now though!

Second, I may be finally going back to work. Wish me luck! I've been out of a job for almost 2 years after I got laid off due to company downsizing. I've had no luck until now in finding work (unless I want to go flip Big Macs) until now. I should find out in a couple of days, I'm really anxious!

And you may notice that DDD has gotten a total makeover. There will be more changes to come in the next couple weeks. I'm hoping overall this layout is cleaner and overall easier to view. If you have any issues viewing please let me know! Along with the layout you may have noticed the new banner. What do you think? It took me forever to decide what I wanted to do with it but I think I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Finally, I have lately just wanted to enjoy the color I put on my nails. I have a whole basket of untrieds but I'd love to wear a polish more than a day.

Which brings us to...Essie Turquoise & Caicos. Of course, I only remembered to snap pictures after I slapped a coat of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure on it. And then my camera decided it just plain didn't like that combo. If it didn't photograph completely green then the flakies flipped it out. I did my best to capture it but not sure how good they are. I wore this for about 5 days with no major chipping (a rare occurrence between Essie and I). I absolutely loved the way this turned out.

The formula was good, despite the puny brush (does anyone else hate Essie brushes?) but still needed 3 coats due to some bald spots. I did manage to gouge my pointer before they were dry, which I didn't fix. As for the color, I need to do a comparison to see how unique it is but like all blue-green shades I love it ;)

Funky neon french

What I started my vacation out with. I knew these would last about 2 seconds because neons wear horrible for me. I used China Glaze Kiwi Cool-ada, Towel Boy Blue, Pool Party, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini and Essie Bright Tights. I obviously suck hardcore at freehanding the black lines, but oh well. I figure no one looks that close in real life. Right? ;)

NOPI He's A Keeper BM stamped with Essie Masquerade Belle

Sometimes I get the urge to reach for my neglected konad and bundle monster plates. And then I get halfway through stamping and realize why they are neglected. I always end up mucking up my manicure somehow trying to use it. Anyways, here is a full nail image from one of the Bundle Monster plates using Essie Masquerade Belle and stamped over Nicole by OPI's He's A Keeper.

Essie Masquerade Belle

This was my Christmas manicure :) I planned on doing something more festive but never got around to it! Masquerade Belle is a pretty vampy color. I had a little bit of trouble with application- but I always do with Essie. The brush is so thin and tiny that I have trouble getting a smooth gap (and I've yet to find a clean up method I like). And these colors never capture well, it doesn't look pretty and shiny like in real life but instead looks dull and scratched.

This wore better than most Essie does for me- as in a day without chips.

Essie Bright Tights

You know how hard I had to try to get this to capture? The above picture was one of a million that didn't wash out the color. It's almost impossible, it's just so neon. I thought it might help if I held something black. I couldn't spot anything though, so here I am holding a Redken Anti-Snap bottle ( <3>

And then the closest I could find to something black was my Kill Audio figure...

It helped, I think? Anyways, Essie Bright Tights...I used 3 coats here and was unhappy to find CHIPS WITHIN HOURS!?!? I think I may try it again using Orly Bonder as a base, I was using Seche Clear and I think it may have been at fault. But also, I have really crappy luck with Essie, does anyone else?

Essie Neo Whimsical

This milky pink was a major lemming for me and one that didn't quite stand up to my expectations. Pretty it is, but worth the $8 price tag? I would normally say yes, but this polish was seriously annoying to apply and took forever to dry both in between coats and even after topped with Seche. Although I can't think of a dupe offhand I'd be willing to bet it has one.

P.S.
This photo is from a couple months ago, I looked so much tanner and my nails were so long! Grow nails, grow!

Essie Neo Whimsical

I have this habit of getting all excited about Essie colors and when I finally get my dirty little hands on them it leaves me slightly underwhelmed. And the case is no different for Neo Whimsical. While this is a very pretty milky lilac-pink it is totally not worth the $8.
Essie Neo Whimsical- 4 coats.

My version- Vintage Floral

Guess where I've been the last couple days? Getting tattoo'ed! I love it. I went to visit a friend and finally get her to tattoo me and I ended up staying the night to hang out AND getting some extra ink while I was there. Nothing major but I can't wait to get more done.

Anyways, here is my take on nail art that was posted by Nails by Rachel! She has some awesome stuff going on over at her blog so check her out. I love her nail art :)

Here is her take on it:

And here is mine (I'm no where near as good as her at hand painting)!:

And here is my left stubs that you never get to see lol:

And here are my nails hanging out with one of my fresh tats. I thought they kinda matched (just link my hair and watch lol):
Would you consider tattoos behind both ears a single tattoo or two? I'll post my other new one with some nail art it has inspired in a couple days. I went swatch crazy the other night so I have tons of stuff coming for all of you to see :)

What I used for this mani:
Essie Mint Candy Apple
Sally Hansen Insta Dri Rapid Red (also for flowers)
China Glaze 2030 applied with dotting tool
Orly Enchanted Forest for the leaves
And something darker red to mix in the flowers but I can't remember what!

And because this showed up in my inbox this morning:
So do you have any tattoos? Tell me about them, I'd love to hear it. Maybe one of these days I'll post all of mine ;)

Hope everyone is having a fabulous day! And if you haven't already, click my giveaway link in the sidebar and enter, it ends in a few days on August 6th!

Essie Sag Harbor + Warm Smokey Evening look

I regretted not picking this up when it was originally out and I finally managed to swap for it! Yay! This is a little more gray than it would picture but just a lil bit. This is gorgeous stormy baby blue shimmer/frost. This is 3 coats. Since this is from the 2009 summer collection pictures from a day at the lake are appropriate I think :) Also, these are taken in fantastic beautiful sunlight for once! Go me ;)

Might as well use my waterproof camera I figure! Look at how gross the lake water looks- it's actually really really clear for a lake!
And here is a look I did to go out one night. I don't really wear warm neutrals very well, they wash me out pretty bad but I've been trying to find some that work for me and I think I have finally :)

Before hair and fake eyelashes...

After hair and fake eyelashes...

What I used:

Eyes-
Urban Decay Sellout on inner lid
Fyrinnae Shrouded in gold on middle/outer corner of lid/inner lower lid
Fyrinnae Lousy Tip in crease/outer corner of lower lid
Revlon Satin Slip as highlight
Black liquid liner for wing (mine is a little wobbly but oh well ;)
Fake eyelashes from eBay (40 pairs and 4 styles for $8 including shipping and they are rather good quality)
Lash Blast Luxe on lower lashes

Face-
Maybelline Liquid Mousse foundation
Cover Girl powder
MAC Dollymix blush

Lips-
MAC Show Orchid
Pink glitter ;)

Essie Punchy Pink

I'm loving this highlighter pink. Application was great- needed three coats to be opaque but went on nicely. Wear was good, no chips before I removed it a couple days later. I will surely be using this again soon. How lovely would a summer pedicure with this be?

I also finally shortened my nails so they are the same length and shaped them. I hate having to cut them down but it must be done!
